Nashville prosecutors, TV producers fight over footage in gang murder case tennessean.com The Tennessean: "Everything happened so quick. Did what we had to do. So things happen.'
Those words, uttered in front of television cameras by Jonathan Gutierrez, could be the key to a murder conviction. Or they could be meaningless.Either way, they have pitted Nashville prosecutors against television documentary producers in a battle that has delayed Gutierrez's murder trial. At issue is whether the producers of the television documentary series Gangland should be forced to give the Davidson County district attorney's office raw footage of their interview with Gutierrez, taped while he was in jail on charges of killing a rival gang member. The episode of Gangland that raised the dispute, titled 'Hunt and Kill,' first aired on History, formerly The History Channel, on Aug. 6, 2009. The film company Gangland Productions produces episodes for A&E Television Networks, which owns History."
