FOB gang,Calgary gangster to finish sentence behind bars for daylight shootout
Calgary gangster to finish sentence behind bars for daylight shootout: "Calgary gangster involved in a daylight shootout at a local shopping centre has been ordered to remain in prison until the end of his sentence.
The National Parole Board's ruling means Truong Minh Nguyen, a member of the FOB gang, will remain behind bars until January 2011 for shooting at rival gangsters outside Calgary's Pacific Place mall in July 2006.
Nguyen, 27, has consistently denied belonging to the FOB gang, but the parole board said he remains a threat to the public if released.
'Your case management team reported that there is no information you have severed your ties with the (FOB) gang,' the parole board wrote in a ruling dated Sept. 9.
A war between FOB and a rival gang, the FOB Killers, has been responsible for at least 25 homicides in Calgary since 2002.
The decision came after the Correctional Service of Canada took the rare step of sending Nguyen to the parole board for a detention review hearing instead of preparing him for mandatory release at the two-thirds mark of his sentence."
