Jamaica Plain man, Roxbury mother of four identified as Boston slaying victims - Jamaica Plain - Your Town - Boston.com: "second person has died after being shot during the wave of violence this weekend on Boston's streets, Boston police said today.
Luis Torres, 23, was shot while standing on Boylston Street in Jamaica Plan Saturday evening, according to police. Another person shot during the Egleston Square violence suffered non-life threatening wounds, police said.
Spontaneous Celebrations, a non-profit in Jamaica Plain where Torres often went for classes and programs, is holding a vigil for him tonight. A childhood friend said Torres's mother died about a year ago, and that he was still struggling to recover from her death when he was killed.
'He went through a lot of tough stuff in his life and losing his mother was very bad for him,' said the friend, Adrian Rivera. 'He was getting better. He was hooking up with the right people.'"
