2 North Side gang members admit racketeering: "Two members of a North Side gang have pleaded guilty to racketeering charges.
A release from federal prosecutors said Bryant Mathis, 22, and Karl Anger, 22, each pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy before Senior U.S. District Judge Gustave Diamond.
They were accused of activity that 'consisted of multiple acts involving robbery, attempted murder, distribution of narcotic drug controlled substances, including cocaine, heroin and crack cocaine, and acts of obstruction of justice and intimidation.'
They are two of 26 defendants charged in February with being members of, and conducting racketeering activity through, the Brighton Place/Northview Heights Crips street gang.
Mr. Mathis is scheduled to be sentenced on April 6 and Anger is scheduled to be sentenced on May 19. Mathis faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a fine of $250,000. Anger faces a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000."
