Gang member gets life for killing gardener | martinez, acevedo, flores - News - The Orange County Register: "A Stanton gang member was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Friday for murdering a gardener.
An Orange County Superior Court jury in November found Sergio Martinez, 33, guilty of special circumstances murder, attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and street terrorism.

The jury did not buy the defense argument that the shooting was self defense.
The shooting took place just after 7 p.m. June 26, 2006, when Martinez was handed a loaded firearm by co-defendant Juan Carlos Castillo, 27.
Prosecutors said the two left the apartment and ran into Jorge Flores and Fausto Acevedo."
