Mucky Duck shooting suspect shies from cameras
Mucky Duck shooting suspect shies from cameras - MontereyHerald.com :: "The man accused of the New Year's shooting at the Mucky Duck pub ducked and covered Thursday to avoid photographers after a judge denied his attorney's request to bar cameras in the courtroom.
Judge Timothy Roberts also rejected the lawyer's motion to have Alejandro Jose Gonzalez 'dressed out' for court appearances to avoid photos of him shackled and dressed in jail-issued clothing.
After testimony from the jail's classification sergeant, the judge said the request posed too great a security risk and could create a domino effect among the other 98 jail inmates currently charged with murder or attempted murder.
Defense attorney Patrick Valencia said he did not know how many of those prisoners faced the type of sentence Gonzalez was facing, potentially four consecutive life terms.
Gonzalez is charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count each of assault with a semi-automatic weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm and street terrorism."
