New gangland killing rocks southern Russia
New gangland killing rocks southern Russia | CRIME | The Moscow News: "Investigators are puzzling over yet another mass murder in southern Russia – where notorious organized crime kingpin Vladimir Slizayev was found slaughtered with his family late on Friday in his Stavropol home.
Only two family members survived – Slizayev’s eight-year old grandson and his two-week-old granddaughter. Broken surveillance cameras indicate the killers prepared in advance, but missing jewellery from the scene left authorities wondering whether the massacre was the result of a robbery, or connected to his organised crime activities.
Officials at the Investigative Committee identified Slizayev, 60, as a “criminal authority connected to drug trafficking”, noting that he had already served time for various crimes.
But much like in the Kushevskaya killing in Krasnodar last November – when a family of 12 was slaughtered and burned in their home - the motives are very likely to be linked to the regional crime world."
