One gang member imprisoned for 16 years for trying to kill another | syracuse.com: "federal judge imposed the maximum prison sentence on a Syracuse street gang member today after hearing from the mother of a rival gang member who’s paralyzed for life because of the defendant’s bullet.
U.S. District Judge Frederick Scullin sentenced Schiquan Harrison to 15 years and 8 months in prison for conspiring to engage in racketeering as a member of the 110 gang. That activity included the shooting of Dylon Smith in November 2008.
Smith, an alleged member of the Bricktown gang, lives in a nursing home because the gunshot wound to his neck left him 90 percent paralyzed, his mother, Sandra Saifulbait, told Scullin.
Scullin said he gave Harrison the maximum sentence because of Harrison’s history of firearms and violence, and for trying to kill Smith."
