Town's last police office abducted by drug gang

Radio New Zealand : News : World : Town's last police office abducted by drug gang: "woman who was the sole police officer in the town of Guadalupe has been kidnapped by gunmen, in the latest incident in the drug wars in Mexico.
Witnesses say about 10 gunmen set the home of Erika Gandara ablaze and set two cars alight before abducting her on Thursday.
Ms Gandara, 28, was the last police officer in the town - which has a population of 9000.
Her colleagues either resigned and fled or were killed.
Guadalupe is 60km from the border city of Ciudad Juarez, which is the centre of a battle for control by the drug cartels for access to the United States.
Guadalupe is also not far from the town of Praxedis Guadalupe Guerrero, where Marisol Valles, 20, a college student, took over as police chief in October."
