Rosales, who police said is a Sure-o gang associate, has had numerous contacts with the Vacaville police
According to police, Jose Rosales, 20, of Vacaville was brought to the Vacaville Kaiser facility Tuesday evening with a gunshot wound to the head. The wound is not considered life threatening but police were called to the hospital.
Rosales, who police said is a Sure-o gang associate, has had numerous contacts with the Vacaville police. The location of the shooting has not been confirmed, as Rosales has changed his story several times, police said. He has also been unable or unwilling to identify the person who shot him.
Police believe his shooting may be related to the incident on Sunday evening on Berryessa Drive in which Joel Pena, 18, of Vacaville was shot and killed.
Detectives are investigating the possibility that the shooting on Tuesday was in retaliation for the homicide on Sunday. Detectives also believe that the crimes are gang related and involve members of rival street gangs.
Police said Pena has been identified as a member of the Norte-o criminal street gang and was on probation at the time of his death. Pena was also a victim of a shooting at Trower Park in April 2010. In the April 2010 incident, Pena was shot in the back with a small-caliber handgun. Pena's injuries in this crime were minor and he was never able or willing to identify the person who shot him in 2010, according to investigators.
