Broome County cracks down on area gangs | pressconnects.com | Press & Sun-Bulletin: "recent arrests came two years after police began looking into local connections with the Bloods. Mollen said the investigation -- involving the FBI, state police, state parole, Binghamton police and Broome County sheriff's deputies -- used eavesdropping warrants, confidential informants and undercover drug buys to build evidence against the defendants.Mollen said there hasn't been a significant change in the number of gang-related crimes in the past two to four years, but the growth in gang crimes locally has been significant over the past decade.Much of it is fueled by people with gang affiliations who move back and forth between New York City and Binghamton, said city police Chief Joseph Zikuski."
