Friend of Kray Twins returns to crime aged 74 in bizarre bid to prove 'I'm not a paedophile' | Mail Online: "ex-bank robber friend of the Kray twins returned to crime at the age of 74 - in a bizarre bid to prove he is not a paedophile.John Searl, 74, befriended the infamous East End gangsters when he was jailed for a string of robberies in the late 1950s.But the pensioner, who lives in sheltered accommodation, resorted to crime after false rumours circulated that he had served an eight-year sentence for child sex offences.Sheffield Magistrates Court heard he deliberately smashed two windows in a house in Hillsborough, Sheffield, so he would be charged and his criminal record could be read out in open court."
