Found Dead in Montreal: "Montreal hip-hop artist Paul “Bad News Brown” Frappier was found dead early Saturday morning, Montreal police confirmed to local news media.
The artist was beaten and shot within walking distance of his St. Henri home, sources tell The Montreal Gazette. A police spokesman says investigators do not yet have a motive or witnesses. Friends of the rapper and harmonica artist say he did not have financial problems or any known enemies.
Bad News Brown was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in 1977. He was adopted by a Montreal family and lived with them until his teenage years. He performed as a freestyle rapper, but then began working as a street performer in Montreal after someone complimented his harmonica music. Brown appeared as the impromptu host of the 2003 bluesy documentary Music for a Blue Train, about musicians performing in the Montreal Metro subway train system."
