Fifteen Montrealers have been arrested in connection with a multi-million dollar drug trafficking ring that was broken up Thursday and Friday, say Montreal police.
The network, which had connections to New York City gangs, operated out of St-Michel’s Titanium Gym, located at the corner of Cremazie Boulevard and 12th Avenue.
The gym has been open for less than a year.
The 15 arrested are of Dominican descent, and include three women.
They were arrested Thursday night in Montreal and the surrounding area.
As part of the operation, roughly 39 homes and businesses were raided.
Police say the group trafficked cocaine, marijuana, and large quantities of ecstasy.
They sold more than 300,000 ecstasy pills per week – a scam that netted the network millions of dollars annually.
"They've been operating for 10-15 years. We've had an eye on them for a while", said Commander Denis Mainville, head of the organized crime division of the Montreal police.
Mainville added the group also had ties with the Montreal mafia and the Hells Angels.
The RCMP and US Homeland Security took part in the operation.
Police say a number of Friday’s raids are also taking place south of the border in New York City
