Police indict members of 'brutally violent robbery gang'
Police indict members of 'brutally violent robbery gang': "The gang was headed by two recently released convicts named as Avdayav Azar, 22, and Ilkanayav Ruslen, 30, both of Sderot, according to police.
'The brains' behind the gang has been named as Yitzhak Drori, 'who acted as an adviser and informer, and who was a full partner in the carrying out of crimes... and provided technical instructions to members,' police said.
One of the suspects turned state's witness during the investigation and told police how the gang operated.
Southern district state prosecutors submitted an indictment against the suspects at the Beersheva Magistrate's Court on Monday. The indictment sheet accused the suspects, among others, of violently robbing a man in his Jerusalem home, bounding and gagging him while threatening to kill him, and beating him unconscious in April 2010 before locating a safe and stealing its contents.
In August 2010, the indictment sheet said, the suspects arrived at the home of a 75-year-old man in Sderot and ambushed him after he opened the door, bounding his mouth and demanding to know where he kept cash."
