George Street Gang associate charged with killing Aubrey Lopez - The Guardian Newspaper: "well-known basketball star and teacher at Edward P. Yorke High School, Aubrey Lopez, 30, who was gunned down on Wednesday night in Belize City was laid to rest after services in Belmopan City.
Five days after the cold blooded murder, one of two suspects who had been detained by police since his murder was charged with a single count of murder. 22-year-old Paul Jex, a resident of #46 Cran Street and construction worker was
arraigned in Court #2 in front of the Senior Magistrate, Sharon Frazer where he was read the charge of murder in the killing of Lopez.
Last week Wednesday, May 12 at about 11:15 p.m., Lopez, a Math Teacher at E.P Yorke High School was shot and killed on Prince Street. He is said to have just left a function on campus at about 11:00 p.m., and was driving a blue Nissa Altima car belonging to a female friend.
Police believe that Lopez was shot and killed after being accosted on Prince Street some 15 minutes after leaving the school function. He received a single gunshot behind the left ear. After shooting Lopez, the assailant threw his body out of the vehicle on Prince Street and sped off in the car. Police who responded to shots being fired in the Prince Street area, later set chase after the car and intercepted it near Queen Square market."
