Stabbing suspect arrested in Gilroy

An arrest has been made in connection with the stabbing and beating of two victims in a Gilroy neighborhood last month, which authorities believe was gang-related.

Gilroy police say that Nicolas Jesse Young, 18, has been booked into Santa Clara County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon following his arrest Saturday afternoon.  If the incident is proven to be gang related, additional charges could be filed.

Young “was spotted loitering in Las Animas Park in the area of the handball courts and arrested without incident,” police told the Gilroy Patch.

Officers responded to reports of a fight involving as many as nine suspects in the area of West Eighth and Monterey Streets just before 3 a.m. on June 12.  The Patch reports that three minors were arrested at the scene after allegedly beating a witness, but additional suspects fled the scene.
