Falls gang member linked to drug dealing and a double shooting is under arrest again after a raid on an Eighth Street crack house.
Members of the Falls Police Emergency Response Team, along with Narcotics Division detectives, hit the home at 763 Eight St. about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Inside they found an active crack house operation.
“We had lots of complaints from the neighborhood,” Falls Police Narcotics Detective John Faso said. “It was a two-family home and we found there were numerous dealers operating out of there at all times.”
Investigators said the house was so active that different dealers worked different shifts on both floors of the home.
“There were lots of people in the apartments when we got there,” Faso said.
Among those inside was Terrell Thomas, a member of the 9th & Wild street gang. Thomas was on the second floor of the home and initially resisted SWAT team members.
“As he struggled with (the officers) they felt a bulge in his waistband,” Faso said. “When they got him cuffed they found it was an electric stun gun.”
Thomas also had 2.3 grams of crack cocaine in his possession. He was charged with third- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Thomas, 20, 323 Spruce Ave., lower, had been free on bail following his arrest for his role in a gang-related shooting at 18th Street and Pierce Avenue on April 11. In that shooting, two teens, one 18 and the other 19, were wounded.
“Each victim was shoot in the foot,” Falls Police Detective Lt. Michael Trane said.
The injuries were not life-threatening and both victims were “uncooperative” with investigators when they were questioned about who attacked them and the motive for the shooting.
After a brief, but intense manhunt, Thomas surrendered to police on April 27 in connection with that shooting. He was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Thomas was free on bail from another drug charge at the time of the shooting.
City building inspectors were called to the Eighth Street home after the raid and condemned the property after finding 2 feet of standing sewage filled water in the basement.
Inspectors also condemned a home at 811 Cedar Ave., adjacent to the crack house, after they found there was not legal electricity at that residence. It appeared that electricity was being to supplied to the home via an extension cord connected to the Eight Street house.
